Dear SDMA Families and Staff,
Unfortunately staffing shortages at Menomonie Transportation will require THREE bus routes to be canceled tomorrow (Friday, November 19th). Everyone in the school district and at Menomonie Transportation is extremely sorry for this inconvenience, but there are simply no drivers available to fill these routes tomorrow. Self-transport and carpooling is encouraged as needed for tomorrow, and any student absences due to lack of transportation will be excused.
Please note the following routes and details:
BUS #24AM: Bus #24 picks up Middle School students in the AM in Woodland Terrace, at the apartments near the VFW, coming up along 21st Ave. and at Ace Hardware. These students should plan to self-transport in the AM. The PM ride remains available.
BUS #24 ELEMENTARY: Bus #24 covers Cedar Falls Road and the Cedar Hills area first, and then it drops at Wakanda. It makes a second trip out to cover the area around Wilson St. (including four trailer courts) and 28th Avenue. All students should plan to self-transport.
BUS #24 PM: Bus #24 DOUBLE RUNS. On the first run it takes students up the hill to the North Menomonie Daycare sites. We will direct Bus #11 PM to double run tomorrow night to serve the daycares since they would have no way to pick up students. On the second run, Bus #24 takes home the students along Wilson St. and 28th and out to Cedar Hills. These students will need to self-transport home as well.
BUS #45AM: Bus #45 picks up Middle School and Senior High students along Co. Rd. J (past the Old Little Elk Creek School). It also gathers students in the Benrud/Otto housing addition just off County Road Y, and students on Tanglewood Road near Chippewa Valley Golf Course, concluding along 9th St. All students should plan to self-transport both AM and PM.
Bus #45PM: Bus #45 as noted above needs to be cancelled in the PM as well – including any Downsville Elementary students in the area. Bus #45 begins at the Middle School with transfer riders for #37. Those transfer riders may hop on #1, #35, or #28 to get to the Senior High to board #37.
BUS #48AM: Bus #48 picks up Middle School, St. Paul’s, and Senior High students west and south of Irvington (running parallel to the river road). It drops down into the valley west of Irvington, comes along Irving Creek Road and finally Paradise Valley Road. All students in this area should plan to self-transport.
BUS #48 ELEMENTARY: Bus #48 begins in the valley west of Irvington, comes along Irving Creek Road, goes up the River Road west of Irvington. It works its way toward Downsville along 350th St. and concludes with a loop out Z and around to C. It collects both Downsville and River Hts students. All students in this area should plan to self-transport.
BUS #44PM: (This is the PM counterpart to Bus #48AM.) Bus #44 begins at the Middle School with transfers for bus #11. Those Bus #11 transfers should ride bus #42 or #48 to get to the Senior High and transfer there onto bus #11. Bus #44 would continue to load students at River Hts. and take them home to the area around Bongey and the Par 3 Golf Course, it goes into the valley west of Irvington, follows Irving Creek Rd., and Paradise Valley Road. All students along this route should plan to self-transport.

Again, we are very sorry for this inconvenience. Hopefully the long Thanksgiving break will allow our school district and community to get through this recent surge of COVID-19 transmission.
