It has been a terrific school year in the SDMA! Thank you to all faculty, staff, community, and family members who have supported our students this year. While the 2025-26 school year does not officially wrap up until Friday, June 5, many year-end field trips and celebrations are already underway. Please join us in celebrating a few of our most recent and upcoming district accomplishments:

Superintendents in the five largest school districts in Wisconsin issued a plea this week to state lawmakers calling for school funding relief now. As noted in their message, Wisconsin families are struggling. Across Madison, Milwaukee, Kenosha, Racine, Green Bay, and in smaller communities like Menomonie, families in Wisconsin are paying more for groceries, utilities, and health insurance. The School District of the Menomonie Area faces those same pressures. We are paying more to feed students, heat and power our schools, and cover rising insurance and healthcare costs. Like families, the SDMA is impacted by increasing expenses due to inflation.

Due to the extremely cold weather forecasted for tomorrow, Friday, January 23, 2026, the School District of the Menomonie Area will be closed. Tomorrow will be a remote learning day in the SDMA.

Season's Greetings from the School District of the Menomonie Area! Best wishes for a happy and healthy winter break. Classes will resume in the SDMA on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The School District of the Menomonie Area will be closing schools two hours early today, Thursday, December 18, 2025. Afternoon bus routes will run two hours ahead of the normal schedule. There will be no afternoon 4K classes, and there will be no practices or after school activities.

Sorting through the mail this time of year can be an exciting and enjoyable experience. Exchanging Christmas cards and gift packages with extended family members, old friends, and neighbors is a great way to keep in touch and get into the holiday spirit. Unfortunately, mixed in with the season’s greetings are likely to be a variety of bills and this year’s property tax statement. Similar to higher costs for holiday gifts and heating during a very cold month of December, most residents across Wisconsin can expect to pay higher property taxes this year.
