MHS Announcements - Monday, March 3, 2025 


 

*Congratulations to the gymnastics team on their 4th place finish at the sectional competition in Ashland.  Many personal records were set by Izzie Whitwam, Claire Mikesell and Paige Ponto.  And a big congratulations to Izzie Whitwam for punching her ticket to the state competition on bars in Wisconsin Rapids this weekend.

 

*The Science Olympiad team took second on a tiebreaker this weekend at the Western Wisconsin Regional Championships.  The team medaled in all of their 23 scoring events, and won 9 events.

Claiming individual regional championships were:

Grant Burns and Amy Liu- Anatomy

Oliver Lugo and Noah Winder- Bungee Drop

Amy Liu and Olivia Rubenzer- Disease Detectives

Grant Burns and Luke Ray- Dynamic Planet

Ben Seguin and Olivia Rubenzer- Forensics

Ben Seguin and Bri Klimek- Forestry

Grant Burns and Luke Ray- Geocaching

Grant Burns and Amy Liu- Microbiology

Logan Topper and Oliver Kerze- Optics

The team next heads to the state competition next month, where they are shooting for a top three finish!

 

*The Skills USA Regionals were held Friday at UW Stout.  Elijah Stuart brought home the gold in the Automotive Servicing Competition.  Dastin Hostettler took third in Cabinetry.  Jack Falkner received third place in the highly competitive Electronics contest.  Everyone did a great job of representing MHS.

 

*Congratulations to wrestler Aidan Aure on his 4th place finish last weekend at the state wrestling competition.  Also congratulations to wrestlers Bryce Shepard, Ben Helminski, Jake Anderson, Ray Pember and Aaron Howard who also competed at the state competition last week representing the Menomonie high school wrestling program.  All wrestlers did an outstanding job.  

 

*Juniors--At this time, please make sure your chromebook is on and connected to the wifi.  Our District Technology Department will be running some updates for the upcoming ACT next week Tuesday, March 11.

 

*The spring sports meeting is tonight.  If you plan on participating in Baseball, softball, boys tennis, girls soccer, boys tennis or track and field you and your parents need to attend this meeting.   Registration starts at 5:00 then the mandatory parent/athlete code meeting with the athletic director starts at 5:30 followed by coaches meetings at 6:00 pm. 

 

*Hidden in Plain Sight:  MHS has partnered with the Dunn Country Partnership for Youth, local law enforcement, and Arbor Place to host an evening designed to share information and resources about drug use and its dangers.  The evening will consist of a presentation by local law enforcement in conjunction with DEA Special Agent Greg Czaczkowski along with providing information about additional community resources.  This will take place at MHS at 7 pm on March 3rd.

 

 

*Menomonie High School Drama is proud to present for the final week Disney's Freaky Friday, a new musical filled with comedy and high-energy numbers. Catch the show this Thursday and Friday (March 6th and 7th) at 7:00 and final show Saturday March 8th at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $5 at the door, we hope to see you there!


*From now to March 10th, the Pulsera Project will be at our school during A and B lunches.The Pulsera Project is a Fair Trade nonprofit organization that supports artisans & communities in Central America through the sale of their colorful hand-woven bracelets, or “pulseras,” in schools across the U.S. Each pulsera costs only $5 and comes tagged with the photo & signature of the artisan who made it. We look forward to your support of these communities in Guatemala & Nicaragua as we lead our pulsera sale in the coming days!

*Students--This is just a reminder that you need to complete the appropriate paperwork for Early College Credit and Start College Now by March 1st for the fall semester of 2025-26.  Application forms can be found in the Student Services Offices.

 

*Sophomore Students, Interested in building your Leadership Skills at a weekend Camp?

Consider attending RYLA Camp in Wisconsin Dells May 9th-11th. Our Local Rotary Club will sponsor a student from MHS to go to this camp to build skills that will help them be a better leader in their future. The google form application is linked in the message in your grade level google classroom and is due by Monday, March 10th! This camp is fully paid for AND the Rotary Club will provide a gas card to help with your transportation costs.

*Attention winter sport athletes if your season is complete it’s time to clean out your locker in the locker room to make room for spring sports.  During spring break all locker rooms will be closed for cleaning and everything left behind will be donated or thrown away.  Make sure when you leave for spring break everything is cleaned out of your locker in the locker rooms.
