MHS Announcements - Tuesday, October 1, 2024 



*The sophomore football team won 43-8 against Eau Claire Memorial. The sophomores are now 3-3 on the season and will play New Richmond at the MHS sports complex next week Monday the 7th.


*The JV football team traveled to St. Croix Central last night for their final game of the year to take on the Panthers.  The Mustangs won 22-8 and finished the season 5-1. Go Mustangs!


*An Admissions representative from UW-River Falls will be in Student Services tomorrow at 10:15.  And a representative from the UW-Stevens Point will be in Student Services on Thurs., Oct. 3 at 9:30.  Please stop if you would like to visit the UW-River Falls or UW-Stevens Point admissions representatives.


*Attention returning and new gymnasts:  there will be an informational meeting tomorrow, Wednesday, Oct 2nd at 6:00pm in the main commons.


*Reminder: Students going on the Build My Future trip on Wednesday need to turn in their permission slips.


*The Menomonie Area Aquatic Club is looking for some additional volunteers to help time at both the Girls Swim Team High School Swim Meets. You can earn community service hours for these opportunities. There is a meet  tonight  and Thursday, Oct. 17 both meets start at 6:30 (arrive at 6)  at MHS Pool.

 

*Attention-anyone interested in participating in this year's MHS Nordic Cross-Country Ski team.  We will have a meeting tomorrow in the tiered lecture hall during study hall.  If you are not able to attend, but would like to participate, please email Coach McCalla at [email protected]   All levels of skiers are welcome. 

 

*Have you ever thought about a career in education? If you have or are still trying to figure things out, stop by Mrs. Delong's room for the Educators Rising meeting on Wednesday, October 2nd during study hall. Everyone is welcome! See you Wednesday!

 

*Are you interested in saving 3 lives by donating blood at HOSA's blood drive on the 18th? Please come to the meeting on October 2nd  during study hall in room 108. 

 

*Kubb club will be meeting this week on Wednesday. We'll meet by room 172 before heading outside. The pitches will be set up and ready to go.  We hope to see you there! 

 

*Want to Develop real world skills that prepare you to be college- and career-ready? Then Join FCCLA! We have some exciting things ahead and new opportunities to get involved! Come learn about a great fundraiser that helps those in need and get involved! It is not too late to join FCCLA- Go for the red and join us Wednesday in Ms. Krause's room!

*Attention sophomores, juniors, and seniors— unsure of what career to pursue. Then the ASVAB career exploration test is for you. ASVAB will be offered on Monday, Oct. 21. There is no cost! Stop by the counseling office to learn more or to sign up.

*National Honor Society Members, membership fees are due Friday October 4th. Please bring these to Mr. Schwarz in room 244.

 

*Art club will be having their first meeting of the year this Wednesday, October 2nd! Join us in room 174 from 3:15 - 4:30. Everyone is welcome! We hope to see you there!

 

*SAGA (sexuality and gender alliance) will meet in room 258 (Mr. Collins' room) during study hall on Wednesday. All are welcome. We would love to see you there. If you have any questions please see Ms. Truitt or Mr. Collins. 

 

*If you are interested in becoming a part of production of backstage crew for MHS Theatre's upcoming production of Radium Girls, please pick up an application form outside of the music commons. Please return them by tomorrow, October 2nd, or as soon as you are able. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Singer.

 

*Students--Please be aware that you will not be able to have an additional entree  if you have a zero or negative meal balance, your parent/guardian request no ala carte, or you have been requested to pay cash only for ala carte.


*Reminder: Sophomores and Seniors -- The deadline to turn in your Jostens orders is Thursday, October 4th, to receive free shipping.  After this, all orders can be placed online.


*ECCP and Start College Now applications are due today by 3:15pm in the Student Services Office.


*Sophomores & Juniors interested in a Healthcare Career, we have an exciting opportunity for you coming up on Tuesday, Oct. 15th, 2024. Students with permission will be visiting the CVTC - Menomonie Campus for their “Healthcare Exploration Day”. You will visit with the current high school cohort and hear about their experience in the Healthcare Academy, meet the instructor, hear about various learning options, tour the campus, the classroom environment you could be a part of next year, participate in a few activities and learn about how you can apply for the Healthcare Academy for next year as early as Nov. 1st.  This is a short trip and students will be gone during periods 6&7. Sign up and grab a permission slip in the Student Services Office by: Thursday, Oct. 10th, 2024. SEATS are limited, so sign up soon!

*Varsity girls tennis is currently competing at the BRC tournament in Eau Claire

*Cross Country is traveling to Chippewa Falls

*Boys Soccer is hosting River Falls kickoff for JV is at 5:00 followed by varsity at 7 pm

*Girls Swim & Dive is hosting Eau Claire Memorial meet time is 6:30
