Track and Field:  Congratulations to the Boys and Girls Track Meet on a great invite last night.   The 8th grade boys won their invite.  They were led by a 3rd place finish in the 100 meter by Bryce Shepard, a 200 meter AND hurdle win by Renner Stoll who set a new record for 10 hurdles. As well as a blazing new PR from Jacob Rue who won the 400, Luke Ray who won the 800 meter and got third in the mile, the 4x100 relay, who got a decisive win (Stoll, Shepard, Jake Anderson and Max Branch) along with the 4x200 (Shepard, Sam Wayne, Tyler Nelson and Branch).  Shepard also won the shot put and Stoll sealed it with a 17 foot long jump.

In the 7th grade meet, the boys placed 2nd by a point.  They were led by a 2nd in the 100 by DJ Butler, a 2nd in the 400 with a huge personal best by Hawkins Anderson, a win in the 4x200 (Butler, Aiden Anderson, Hawkins Anderson and Kenny Heim) and the double shot and discus win by Trevor Robert.  Preston Path also placed 2nd in the long jump.

 

On the girls side, the 8th grade girls placed 2nd.  They were led by wins in the 200 by Izzy Sorenson with a blazing 29.2 seconds, a 2nd/3rd finish in the 400 by Anna Bast and Marcie Braatz.  The distance events were won by the dynamic duo of Danica Holcomb (800 meter champ). and Kyah Barnhart (who ran 5:59).  The 8th grade 4x100 and 4x200 of Yabe Burns, Rachel Riepel, Kendra Dold and Sorenson continued their win streak with the double win. 

 

Finally in 7th grade girls action, the girls won the invite decisively.  Placing first was Elsa Elliot in the 100 meter with a new 6th grade record of 13.8 and 2nd in the 200 meter.  Flo Owens was third in the 200 meter.  Bella Drake, Grace Nevin and Emmi Marlett went 1,2,3 in the 400 meter.  Emmi also won the shot put. Allison Xu cruised to a win in the 800 meter again and the girls 4x100 (Owens, Drake, Sydney Norby and Marlett) got the win.

Boys Tennis:  It was a beautiful day as our middle school tennis teams took on Altoona yesterday afternoon.  The teams ended up splitting with Altoona. 

The M1 team hosted on our high school courts and came away with a victory 8-6. Special congratulations to Gavin Nelson for hist first W of the season and the double team of Waylen/Tyson on their sweep.

The M2 team was short several players and although had some close matches, they were defeated 1-11.

The season is done for M2, congratulations on a great season.

The M1 team (mostly 8th graders) finish their season tomorrow afternoon.

8th Grades going out for sports next year in high school:  There will be physicals and impact testing at the high school on July 25 and July 26 from 1:00pm – 5:00pm this summer.  We ask that families make a donation to the booster club for $20.

Girls Basketball:  Attention all 8th grade girls interested in playing basketball next year in High School.  There will be an informational meeting during WIN  today in the gym with Coach Harmon about summer opportunities.  Please pass the word on.  Thanks, and make it a Great Day! 

Impact Testing (current 8th graders only):  If you are going to be participating in any sport next year in high school you must complete Impact Testing.  We will have 2 sessions at the Middle School on Tuesday, May 31st and Wednesday, June 1st after school.  You must sign up in the front office and pick up a permission form that must be signed by your parents and returned at the time of testing.  Space is limited.  We will test right after school and be finished about 4:00pm.

8th Graders:  If you plan to play football in High School next year, there will be a meeting on Wednesday, August 3rd from 5:30pm – 7:30pm in the High School cafeteria.  Mark you calendar!
