Spotlight on Black History:  Laila Ali is a professional boxer who was active in the ring 1998-2007. She holds the super middleweight titles in women’s category across WIBA, WBC, IWBF and IBA championships. Laila Ali also holds the light heavyweight title in the women’s category in IWBF championships. She started-off with boxing at the age of 18. Laila made her ring debut in 1999 at the age of 21 knocking out opponent April Fowler within 31 seconds into the first round. She fought her last match in 2007 against Gwendolyn O’Neil knocking out the opponent in the first round. Apart from professional boxing, Ali has gained popularity as a multi-media personality with her television appearances, modeling and book writing ventures.  She continues to work as a health and fitness expert and television show host.

Yearbook:  Yearbook club will meet on Monday, February 7th after school in Mrs. Forster’s room.  We will be working on our page assignments, so make sure you bring your chromebook.

 

Volleyball:  Attention all athletes who are interested in volleyball.  Open gyms will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm at the middle school starting on Thursday, February 10th.

 

8th Grade Girls Basketball:  Coach Seymour and Coach K are still in need of 8th grade girls basketball players.  If you are at all interested, please feel free to show up at practice, or chat with Mr. Seymour or Ms. Keister about playing.

 

Lost and Found:  Check out the lost and found today for any of your items.  Anything left will be removed from the building today after school.

 

Fleece Drive:  Student Council is sponsoring a Fleece Drive so the school can make small tie blankets for the cats at the Humane Society.  Fleece can be dropped off outside the office.  Tie blanket making is open to all students.  Blanket making will be after school on Wednesday, February 9th.  Let’s help the kitties be comfortable!

Reminders:  We continue to emphasize hand washing, physical distancing and respiratory etiquette.  A friendly reminder to all students to continue to hand wash or use sanitizer in the lunch lines.  We have sanitizing stations located throughout the building in pods, entry ways, lunch lines and in classrooms.  Please stay home if you are sick or if you or a family member are waiting on a Covid-19 test result.
