Football:  Congrats to the 8th grade football teams!  Both teams got their first wins, but more importantly, improved greatly from their first game only 3 days earlier.  Keep up the good work!

Self-Care Club:  Bridge to Hope is starting a Self-Care Club.  Some of the potential topic discussions include, self-esteem, healthy boundaries, stress management and more!  Our fist meeting will be Tuesday, September 21st right after school until 4:00pm.  We will meet in the LMC conference room.  We will meet every Tuesday.  Everyone is welcome to attend!

Y.E.P.  The Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) is an after-school group that meets once a week on Tuesdays in the Health room (Mrs. Duex’s room) after school until 4:45pm starting September 21st. The program has been offered at our school since Spring 2019. Due to COVID, much of that time the program was only available online.

The goal of the group is to provide middle-school students with drug prevention programming and opportunities to learn new skills like leadership and public speaking while making a positive impact in their communities. A secondary goal is to provide an opportunity for students to have an after-school snack, make new friends, and spend time with old ones in a fun and positive environment.

YEP members have participated in activities like creating flyers and informative videos, practicing skits to perform for elementary audiences, and enjoyed group trips to Action City and the bowling alley. Where the group goes next depends on suggestions from our members (and our budget!)

Hand Washing/Sanitizing:  Please remember to wash your hands and sanitize throughout the day and especially before lunch.  We have sanitizing stations located throughout each pod and several in the cafeteria.

Quote of the Week:  The great gift of human beings is that we have the power of empathy. – Meryl Streep

Word of the Month:  Empathy

Reminders:  We continue to emphasize hand washing, physical distancing and respiratory etiquette.  A friendly reminder to all students to continue to hand wash or use sanitizer in the lunch lines.  We have sanitizing stations located throughout the building in pods, entry ways, lunch lines and in classrooms.  Please stay home if you are sick or if you or a family member are waiting on a Covid-19 test result.
