Special Speaker:  MMS welcomes Tasha Schuh today!  We will be sending out more information.  Please refrain from picking up your students at the last minute today during the assembly.  The assembly will take place from 1:30 – 2:45 pm.  More information and talking points will be sent out later today.

 

Science Olympiad:  60 teams representing the top 38 schools from across Wisconsin met at UW-Stout on Saturday to compete in the State Science Olympiad tournament.  In the end, the 36 scientists brought home 23 medals and 3rd place for Menomonie Middle School These students worked for six months studying, building, and never giving up to earn these achievements. 

 

Earning the gold medal for building the best glider was Marlena Weghorn.  Hayleigh Husby and Kaitlin Fellenz also took home gold medals for their superior knowledge of our Solar System.  Emmett Ogden and Damian Gray took second place in Amazing Mechatronics.  David Ding and Hayleigh Husby earned silver medals for their work in Disease Detective.  Peter Bendel and David Ding proved once again that they are the guys you want around if you’re ever lost with their second place finish in Road Scholar.  If you have a GPS unit you should ask Sam Seguin and Luke Mahoney for help as they finished second in Geocaching.  Damian Gray and Ethan Sapradit earned bronze medals for their work with circuits and electricity.  Marlena Weghorn and Hayleigh Husby earned bronze medals for Dynamic Planet.  Anna Imsande, Anne Dye, and Meghan Prochnow took 3rd place in Experimental Design.  All three teams medaled in the Herpetology event.  If you ever have a question about a reptile or amphibian you may want to as Sam Seguin, David Ding, Caleb DeVries, Derek Weber or Spencer Kelsey.  Amy Liu, Pajci Xiong, and Amelia Anderson earned bronze medals for their work together in Picture This.

 

Congratulations to all of you for being such an amazing group.  Your coaches and school could not be more proud!

 

Public Library Movies:  If you’re looking for something to do over spring break, head over to the Menomonie Public Library for a double feature movie day on Thursday, March 28 starting at 3:30 pm.  Bring a friend and munch on some popcorn while watching “The Hate U Give” (PG-13) and “Avengers:  Infinity War” (PG-13).  See you there!

 

4th Quarter Sign-Ups:  Sign-ups for 4th quarter sports will be held on Tuesday, March 19th & Wednesday, March 20th during lunch.  This includes 7th & 8th Boys Tennis, 7th & 8th Girls Soccer, 7th & 8th Boys and Girls Track.

 

Boys Swim:  Our pizza party is today after school until 4pm in the MMS Cafeteria.

 

Spring Pictures:  Spring pictures will be Monday, April 1st.  This is the 1st day back after spring break.  You can pick up a money envelope in the front office.  Your envelope and money must be turned in at the time you have your picture taken.  Pictures will be taken during CARES and into 1st period.

 

Craving Culver’s?  On Monday, March 18th, the K-12 Art Department would like to serve you from 5-8pm.  Just mention “Celebrating The Arts” when ordering!  Students artwork is currently on display too!  Hope to see you there!

 

Spring Play:  Don’t miss your chance to be part of the spring play!  Auditions are today and tomorrow from 3:00 – 4:30pm in the choir room.  Be sure to check out the MMS Drama website to set your audition day and prepare!  Any questions, see Mrs. Enyeart.
