Battle of the Books: A big congratulations to this years winning battle of the books team: “Return of the Word Nerds” Anne Dye, Hayleigh Husby, Kira Prochnow and Meghan Prochnow. This team will represent our school in the State Competition next week. Great job and best of luck at State!!

Yearbook: February 23rd is the last day to purchase a yearbook! Note that students do not have school on the 22nd or 23rd. All orders are preferred to be purchased online at jostensyearbooks.com. Order forms will be available during parent/teacher conferences, if you are unable to order online. Purchase price is $25. There may not be any extra yearbooks available in May so please pre-purchase your copy now! 8th graders, this is your last opportunity to remember your middle school years, don’t forget to purchase a yearbook by February 23rd.
Celebrate Black History Month: Serena Williams was born in 1981. She is the most decorated and highest earning female tennis player in history. She has won 23 single grand slam titles, 15 doubles titles. Serena Williams has also won four Olympic gold medals.
Shirley Chishom lived from 1924- 2005. She is the first black Congresswoman. She was elected to the House of Representatives for NY in 1968. She used her time in congress to campaign for women’s and civil rights. She served from 1968 to 1983 and was the first black woman to run for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
Student Council: We will be selling yummy lips lollipops at lunch today. .50 per lollipop, limit of 6 per day. Money raised goes to Boys and Girls Club and Stepping Stones.
Book Fair: The Scholastic Book Fair will be open from Tuesday, February 13th to Wednesday, February 21st. You can visit the book fair before/after school, during lunch and at parent/teacher conferences.
