Black Leaders of Wisconsin:  We will be meeting today after announcements in the library conference room.  Bring your laptop.

Forensics:  Congratulations to all Forensics students on a fantastic first meet on the season!  Be sure to schedule a coaching session before next Thursday’s Level One meet, and bring your judging slips along.

Thank You! Thank you to all students for your fantastic attention and behavior at the High School Chorus performance yesterday morning.  This was noticed by many – and especially appreciated by Mr. Buhr and the performers.

MathCounts:  Good job to the Regional MathCounts teams that competed yesterday!  We will have results at the party.  Reminder:  Party, Wednesday, February 7 from 3:00 – 3:30 in the silver pod.  Bring $3 to Mrs. Tavares, Ms. Dombrowski or Mrs. Forster on Monday!

Girls Basketball:  Two of your 7th Grade girls’ BB teams went on the road to Altoona last night. The girls played hard and were able to engineer a win as well.  Way to go, girls!  Your 8th grade girls’ BB teams got two big wins against Altoon last night.  Nice work ladies!

Supply Drive:  Thank you to all the CARES classes who contributed to the FCCLA humane society supply drive.  We got 228 items total!  Congratulations to Mrs. Tavares’ and Mrs. Decker’s CARES for donating the most and winning the glazers!  Thank you for supporting FCCLA and the Dunn County humane shelter.

Black History Month:  Did you know that the traffic stop light was invented by black man?  Garrett Morgan was the first black man in Cleveland to own a car.  Morgan worked on his mechanical skills and developed a friction drive clutch.  Then, in 1923, he created a new kind of traffic signal, one with a warning light to alert drivers that they would need to stop, after witnessing a carriage accident at a particularly problematic intersection in the city.  Morgan quickly acquired patents for his traffic signal – a rudimentary version of the modern three-way traffic light 0 in the United States, Britain and Canada, but eventually sold the rights to General electric for $40,000.

Black Leaders of Wisconsin:  Black Leaders of Wisconsin is sponsoring a viewing of the film “Selma” for all students to see on Tuesday, February 6th in room 825.  There will be free popcorn from the Menomonie Theater.  Bring $3 for pizza after if you desire.  “Selma” is a movie about MLK Jr.’s march over Pettus Bridge in support of black voting rights.  All are welcome Tuesday, February 6th, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in room 825.

GEAC World Tour!  Music, crafts, games, interactive stations, videos and displays from around the world.  Sunday, February 11th, 1 - 4 pm at the Menomonie High School Commons.  This is a free event.  Experience the world...right here in Menomonie!
