Black History Month:  Never be limited by other people’s limited imaginations.  Dr. Mae Jemison was the first African-American woman in space.  Before applying to NASA, she learned to speak Russian, Swahili and Japanese.  She became a doctor and volunteered in Cambodia and Sierra Leone.  She was an astronaut and doctor conducting experiments about weightlessness and motion sickness.  After returning to earth, she founded a company that uses satellites to improve health in Africa.

Black Leaders of Wisconsin:  Black Leaders of Wisconsin is sponsoring a viewing of the film “Selma” for all students to see on Tuesday, February 6th in room 825.  There will be free popcorn from the Menomonie Theater.  Bring $3 for pizza after if you desire.  “Selma” is a movie about MLK Jr.’s march over Pettus Bridge in support of black voting rights.  All are welcome Tuesday, February 6th, from 3:00 – 6:00 pm in room 825.

Supply Drive:  FCCLA is extending the supply drive for the Humane Society here in Dunn County.  We will be collecting and totaling items brought in on February 1st, so het those items in!  The most needed items are unscented bleach, paper towels, and Purina kitten chow.  Bring in supplies to your CARES class to earn a sweet treat; FCCLA will buy glazers for the winning CARES class on Tuesday, February 6th.
