Dear SDMA Families and Staff,

There will be no school for SDMA students during the week of Thanksgiving (November 22-26).

It has been a difficult few weeks in the school district.  A sharp increase in COVID-19 transmission throughout the community has led to many teachers and support staff members having to isolate, quarantine, or stay home to provide care for children unable to attend school or local daycare centers.

The district continues to do our best to arrange for substitute employees, but several teachers have been forced to give up a substantial amount of planning time to help fill vacancies. Planning time is needed in the district to prepare lessons, assess student work, and communicate/collaborate with colleagues. Planning time is needed so SDMA educators can continue to best serve students moving forward.

With the district's current planning time needs, the two school days during Thanksgiving week (November 22 & 23) will be converted into non-student planning days for the faculty and staff in the SDMA.  There will be no school for SDMA students on those days.

Thank you and good luck/be safe to all hunters in the SDMA. If anyone is interested in working as a substitute (teacher, para, custodian, etc.) in the SDMA, please contact HR Director Samantha Hoyt ([email protected]).

Sincerely,

Joe Zydowsky
