Congratulations to the MMS Science Olympiad Teams!  3 teams from the Middle School competed against schools from Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota at the University of Minnesota Science Olympiad Tournament this past Saturday.  The Maroon team finished 3rd out of 24 teams and earned the 3rd Place Trophy.  The White and Gold teams were not too far behind at 13th and 16th place.

The following individuals earned medals:

3rd Place Bronze Medals went to:

  • Kaden Styer and Zach Foslid in Mission Possible
  • Katharine Bendel and Jordan Selchow in Road Scholar
  • Kyle Harmer and Carben Weghorn in Fossils
  • Anne Price and Ellen Dingwall in Crime Busters
  • Chloe Oehler and Elisabeth Woodward in Write It/Do It

2nd Place Silver Medals went to:

  • Carben Weghorn in Air Trajectory, Bridge Building and Elastic-Launched Glider
  • Katharine Bendel and Jordan Selchow in Meteorology
  • Simon Fichter and Kaden Styer in Wind Power

1st Place Gold Medals went to:

  • Simon Fichter and Vincent Miara in Green Generation
  • Simon Fichter and Vincent Miara in Invasive Species

The kids worked really hard preparing for the competition and continue to get better at their events each week!  A fun time was had by all on Saturday.

The students will now start preparing for Regionals which takes place on February 20th.

A reminder to Science Olympiad members that there will be NO practice today, January 11th, after school.  Practice will take place on Tuesday and Thursday of this week.  A group photo will be taken during CARES on Wednesday morning, January 13th, in the Commons at 8:00 am.

Forensics Students – if you have not selected your piece or had your piece okayed by a coach, you must sign up to work with us this week.  Sign-ups are in the cafeteria, near the microwave.
