Sock Drive:  Student Council will be hosting an Unused Sock Drive this and next week February 15-26.  There will be a green box outside of the front office for unused socks to be dropped off.  Socks will be donated to Stepping Stones, and then the homeless.

 

Book Fair:  Shop the Scholastic Book Fair February 11th – February 24th.  See your Language Arts teacher for the link to order.

 

Yearbook:  The final deadline to order a yearbook is February 19th.  Yearbooks cost $25 and can be ordered online at jostens.com.  This is your last chance to order a yearbook for the year, so don’t miss out!

 

Black History Month:  February is Black History Month, which is a time to commemorate and reflect on remarkable African American trailblazers who have left enduring legacies by igniting a desire for hone and change.  In honor of Black History Month, we are gathering some inspiring quotes and bio information from powerful Black leaders.

 

Highlight:  Rudolph Fisher | Physician | 1897-1934
Fisher was an African-American physician, radiologist, novelist, short story writer, dramatist, musician, and orator. In addition to publishing scientific articles, he had a love of music. He played piano, wrote musical scores and toured with Paul Robeson, playing jazz. He wrote multiple short stories, two novels and contributed his articles to the NAACP all before his death at the age of 37.
