Science Olympiad:  Congratulations to the Science Olympiad team who won 1st Place at the Regional Tournament on Saturday. In addition to our first team's top finish, our second team finished 6th overall and our third team finished 9th. We had 13 golds, 12 silvers and 4 bronze. First place finishers included Shannon Mason and Mathew Glaus in Anatomy and Physiology. Ellen Dingwall and Autumn Larrabee in Crime Busters. John Kluge and Marlena Weghorn in Dynamic Planet. Isabella Kaufman, Teagan Christenson, and Allison Falkner in Experimental Design. Kevin Leach and Allison Falkner in Ecology. Maddie DeVries and Kalya Kelsey in Herpetology. David Ding and John Kluge in Meteorology. Bella Kaufman and Teagan Christenson in Optics. Hayleigh Husby and Kajsiab Xiong in Potions and Poisons. Peter Bendel and David Ding in Road Scholar, and Dylan Foslid in Rollercoaster. 

We will not have practice this week. Mr. Evans will send an update on next week's practice schedule and any new information.

 

SHAKE IT TO END DUCHENE:  Zumba Party!  Saturday, February 24th, 9-10:30 am at Menomonie High School.  Check in begins at 8:30 am.  Come early, buy a t-shirt and join the pre-party.  No registration required – any donation amount accepted and appreciated.

 

FCCLA Snack Bar:  Don’t forget to stop by the FCCLA Snack Bar at conferences Tuesday night!  Help support our FCCLA Regional & State students!

Yearbook:  February 23rd is the last day to purchase a yearbook!  Note that students do not have school on the 22nd or 23rd.  All orders are preferred to be purchased online at jostensyearbooks.com.  Order forms will be available during parent/teacher conferences, if you are unable to order online.  Purchase price is $25.  There may not be any extra yearbooks available in May so please pre-purchase your copy now!  8th graders, this is your last opportunity to remember your middle school years, don’t forget to purchase a yearbook by February 23rd.

Celebrate Black History Month:  Toni Morrison was born on February 18, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio.  Toni Morrison is a Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, editor and professor.  Her novels are known for their epic themes, exquisite language and richly detailed African-American characters who are central to their narratives.  Among her best known novels are The Bluest Eye, Sula, Song of Solomon, Beloved, Jazz, Love and A Mercy.  Morrison has earned a plethora of book-world accolades and honorary degrees, also receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2012.

Book Fair:  The Scholastic Book Fair will be open from Tuesday, February 13th to Wednesday, February 21st.  You can visit the book fair before/after school, during lunch and at parent/teacher conferences.
