Reminder to parents:  If you will be picking up your student during school hours, please send a note with your student the day of the appointment so we can issue them a class pass in advance.  We have a lot of parents showing up to pick up students without advanced noticed causing interruption to teachers and classes.  We will give your student a pass for 5 minutes before your anticipated arrival so they can be in the office waiting for you.  Also, parents are required to come in to the office and sign your student out.  Students are not allowed to leave the building without a parent/guardian.  Contact the front office if you have any questions.

February is Black History Month:  Did you know?  At age 3, Nina Simone climbed up to the organ bench at her church and learned to play “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.”  Nina grew to be an accomplished and powerful force in the 20th century American music.  Nina Simone played piano, sang and wrote many songs.  Two famous songs are “Brown Baby” and “Young, Gifted and Black.”  At twelve, she gave her first concert.  Her parents were forced to sit in the back to make room for some white people.  Nina Simone refused to start playing until her parents were seated back at the front.
